Thursday, August 12 at 2pm at TexARTS.
The Official State Musician of Texas Sara Hickman will
perform with the Family Time Rocks band. Hickman is
a pop children’s singer/songwriter based in
Austin and she has
released more than 15 albums. The Texas
Commission on the Arts appointed Hickman the 2010 State
Musician of Texas for the exceptional quality of her work
and for her outstanding commitment to the arts in

Do
you like muffins? Eat at Mimi’s Café on Thursday, August
12th from 4-9pm to help raise money for the new library!

Reading
Logs Available
Children, teens, and
adults are invited to participate in the Lake Travis
Community Library Summer Reading Program! Children can
record the number of minutes or titles read, then come by
the library for a sticker and treat every five lines.
Turn logs in by Friday, August 6 to be awarded a certificate
and prizes. Teens and adults can participate, too!
Fill out a Genre
Bingo Card and read books in a number of different
genres, then turn in cards by Friday, August 6 to win
rewards such as gift certificates, free meals, and more.
Everyone in the family can join in the fun this summer!

groups over the summer to help incoming 9th and 10th
graders at Lake Travis High School. Get a head
start and attend a study group:

Early Literacy and PBS provides dozens of short one
minute videos that model songs, rhymes, and fingerplays
appropriate for early childhood. Each video clip
includes helpful early literacy tips to increase
caregivers’ understanding of child development and

Résumé Maker Available for Job Seekers
Lake Travis Community
Library has recently added free access to Résumé Maker
computer software to the list of patron services. This
web-based program provides tools, advice, and sample
material for job-seekers. Résumé Maker allows
individual users to build resumes and cover letters from
scratch, or to upload existing resumes for editing. The
website also includes virtual interviews and sample
interview questions, information about salaries, and
resources for job searching. Visit

Memoir Writing Group Webpage
The Memoir Writing
Group has a new
webpage! It includes writing prompts, news, a
story of the month, blogs, and other helpful links for writers.
The group meets the first Tuesday of the month at the
library at 7pm. All are welcome!
